Michael Smith

Michael Smith
Senior Vice President, Multi-Family - Western Canada
As the Senior Vice President, of Multi-Family Development in Western Canada for ONE, Michael is involved in all aspects of the acquisition, development and marketing process, including liaison with partners.
Michael has deep experience in acquisitions, development and planning for mixed-use, high-rise commercial and residential development projects. Prior to joining ONE in 2012, Michael already had a distinguished career in land acquisition and multi-family development, with a track record of creating long-term value. He has been involved in the development of in excess of 30,000 multi-family residential units, hotels, community facilities and mixed-use developments.
Michael is a graduate of the Western University law school. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban & Regional Planning from Ryerson University. Michael has lectured in the Real Estate and Infrastructure Program at the York University Schulich School of Business. He is a member of and served on the board of the Urban Land Institute (Edmonton). He has contributed his deep knowledge of real estate to advance a variety of community initiatives.
Michael is married with three teenage daughters and the family includes two Italian water dogs.

Roberta Hague

Roberta Hague

As the Senior Vice President Corporate Affairs, Roberta works as a member of the leadership team to develop, communicate and execute the overall business strategy. She leads Human Resources, Communications, Business Technology and Operational Risk Management. Roberta also supports investor relations and the advancement of governance practices for ONE.
Prior to joining ONE in 2019, Roberta had a long career holding progressively senior positions in financial services with leadership roles spanning global mandates in communications and government relations, human resources, risk management, marketing, and strategic planning, along with P&L and operating accountability oriented to business turnarounds and restructurings.
Roberta is a graduate of the ICD-Rotman, Directors Education Program and holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Degree in English and Political Science and then from the Rotman School at the University of Toronto with an MBA. She holds a diploma in French studies from the University of Nantes and has attended the Harvard Program on Negotiation. Roberta has served on the boards of several community-based organizations and is currently on the advisory board of a tech start up.
Roberta is married with two sons. She loves skiing and sailing with her family.

Darren Durstling

Darren is the majority of owner of ONE Properties. As President and CEO, he has led ONE to grow and evolve into a widely recognized brand with a reputation for high-quality development, and property and asset management, across a full spectrum of real estate asset classes. Darren plays a central role in new fund development and investing partner relations. He is dedicated to building better communities.
Darren brings more than 30 years of real estate experience in acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, asset management and development. He joined ONE (formerly WAM Development Group) in 1998, with an initial focus on growing and strengthening the industrial development business. By 2004, WAM had established itself as one of the largest developers of industrial real estate in Canada. Darren has been named one of Alberta’s 50 Most Influential People by Alberta Venture. Darren now divides his time between homes in Alberta and Ontario.
Darren is a University of Alberta graduate. He is regularly sought out for his insights into the role of real estate in economic and community development. Darren is an enthusiastic sports fan, supporting the Oilers, Oil Kings, and FC Edmonton soccer club. He and his wife support the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and numerous other community-based initiatives.
Darren is married with two daughters. The newest addition to the family is a happy puppy, named Indiana.

Laurie Anderson

As Chief Financial Officer, Laurie oversees all facets of finance and accounting, including financial strategy and structuring, debt sourcing, reporting, financial agreements, taxation, procurement and treasury functions.
Laurie joined ONE in 2001. She is a Certified Professional Accountant with a diverse background in financial management, corporate and tax structuring along with a deep understanding of entity structures including – corporations, joint ventures, limited and general partnerships, charitable foundations, family trusts, unit trusts and cross border structures. She has built meaningful relationships within the financing and brokerage community encompassing both primary, mezzanine and equity debt and is also an experienced negotiator on multimillion-dollar real estate and corporate transactions.
Laurie believes strongly in community involvement, currently chairing the Board for St. John Ambulance Alberta. Laurie has served on the Board of Trustees for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and is a past Director on the University Hospital Foundation Board.
Laurie is married with one daughter. When not at work or home, her favourite place is Disneyland.

Bill has a broad business mandate which includes leading our Industrial team with oversight of acquisitions, development, leasing and land servicing. Bill also leads our Property Management and Asset Management teams which manage large and diverse portfolios of real estate assets for partners and clients.
Bill joined ONE in 2011 with a track record of creating value in commercial properties through proactive asset management and leasing. Prior to joining ONE, Bill held a variety of senior management positions with REITs and other institutional property owners operating across Canada. Since joining ONE Properties, Bill has been responsible for the development of 5.1 million square feet of industrial buildings and the servicing of 835 acres of industrial land. Developments currently under construction or in the detailed planning stage account for an additional 4.2 million square feet of buildings and 663 acres of industrial land. In addition to development, Bill has overseen the dramatic growth of the Properties Group which now has 15 million square feet under property and/or asset management.
Bill was born in Saint John New Brunswick. He has Bachelor of Commerce degree and an MBA from Dalhousie University. He moved west, with a stop in Toronto en route, and has lived in Calgary for more than thirty years. He has served on the Calgary BOMA Board, coached minor hockey and supported local food banks and lunch programs for school children.
Bill is married with two children. He and his wife are enthusiastic golfers. Bill has FOUR hole-in-ones… with witnesses.

As Senior Vice President, Retail, Stefan oversees the strategic direction and management of ONE’s retail development activities, sourcing acquisitions, negotiating leases with key tenants and liaising with development partners.
Stefan has over 25 years of real estate development experience. Prior to joining ONE Properties in 2014, Stefan oversaw the development of 25 million square feet of retail, residential and mixed-use developments across Canada with leading developers. Stefan’s role broadened into acquiring key acquisitions throughout Canada while sourcing financing and cultivating partnerships with major institutional investors. Stefan is capable of sourcing, acquiring, designing, entitling and constructing complex projects both Urban and Greenfield, from initial conception to completion. His relationships in both the financial and retail end of the business are a strong asset to ONE Properties.
Stefan graduated from the University of Waterloo with an Honours Degree in Environmental Studies in Urban and Regional Planning. He has also studied Architectural Urban Design & Development at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP), the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (RPP) and the International Council of Shopping Centres. Stefan serves on the Board of WinSport (Winter Sport Institute) and the Calgary Olympic Park Land and Facilities Management Board.
Stefan is married with two children. He enjoys skiing, and can even be found blocking gates on a slalom course.

Jeffery has over 15 years of wide-ranging real estate development experience with commercial, industrial and mixed-use projects in both Canada and the United States.
Prior to joining ONE Properties, Jeffery worked for one of the largest retailers in Canada where he was responsible for the planning and development activities for greenfield store locations and expansion projects across the country. Jeffery also worked for a reputable real estate developer in southeast Florida focusing on design and project approvals for large commercial and mixed-use sites.

Thomas is responsible for the planning and implementation of strategic multi-family projects. A Chartered Planning and Development Surveyor by training, he has over 20 years experience running complex urban development projects in various markets including London (UK), Toronto and Western Canada. Thomas is also involved with managing acquisitions and leading all planning and development activities, including business plan creation and delivery as well as overseeing marketing activities, monitoring construction management projects and reporting to key stakeholders.
He has a particular focus on high-rise mixed-use and hospitality projects, and the delivery of large-scale master plans. Thomas also earned his Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation.

Richard comes with over 20 years of real estate experience with nationally recognized companies ranging from architects to developers.

Kimberlie Garraway

Kimberlie Garraway
Vice President, Property Management
Kimberlie is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the property management team. She is responsible for developing, leading and inspiring the team to deliver best-in-class standards of customer service, maintenance and property operations as well as ensuring continual optimization of programs. She oversees all aspects of property operations in Edmonton, Calgary and the Greater Toronto Area.
Kimberlie brings over 25 years of experience in asset and property management, working from the perspective of an owner, asset manager, third party manager and tenant. She holds a Real Property Administrator (RPA) designation and a current Real Estate License.

Robert Mulvale
Vice President, Retail Leasing

Robert Mulvale
Vice President, Retail Leasing
Robert oversees the design and implementation of a retail leasing strategy for the standalone retail projects and mixed-use developments. Robert and his team work extensively with the development, finance and asset management teams to ensure accurate planning, forecasting and retail tenant performance across the portfolio. He is also responsible for lease negotiations and building and fostering relationships with existing and prospective tenants.
With over 20 years experience in commercial real estate leasing and development, he has worked on various retail formats including enclosed shopping malls, mixed-use developments and open-air shopping centres in Ontario and the Atlantic and Prairie provinces.
